Shisen-do

It is a wallpaper photograph of the autumnal leaves of Shisen-do

The best time to see of the autumnal leaves of Shisen-do is the middle of November - the end of the month. This time is colored the color of autumnal leaves with brilliant inside of a garden. Shisen-do is a Zen temple of the Soto sect in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto-shi. It is the garden told that Jozan Ishikawa who was Ieyasu Tokugawa's vassal in early stages of the Edo period erected this hermitage known in Poets' Room and a beautiful garden in 1641. It is what is connected with Jozan Ishikawa who is an erection person of Shisen-do Jozan-ji, that is, this hermitage in the official name of Shisen-do. Moreover, since the origin of the name of Shisen-do had between Shisen(s) which hung up each poet's poetry which Jozan Ishikawa himself added to 36Shisen images of China Kan which is said for Tan'yu Kano and Naonobu to have drawn, Shin, Tang, and Sou over the wall on all sides, it came to be called Shisen-do. Since Jozan Ishikawa who was Ieyasu Tokugawa's vassal took action against a command of Ieyasu to whom the competition for the first place of what distinguished oneself on the occasion of Osaka Natu-no-Jin was forbidden, the basis cannot accept distinguished services, either, therefore the Ieyasu vassal's status is given up, and a literary man's way is followed. He lives in Hiroshima with relocation of the Asano family which served after that, it returns to Kyoto after that and a hermitage is made at this place, and there are circumstances of having led the retirement life until it dies over 31 years henceforth. Jozan Ishikawa himself has a talent [ multi-] said in now -- everybody but a Chinese poem composer -- a landscape gardener and a Confucian scholar, and a calligrapher -- it has faces, such as - master of the tea ceremony. It is also that Jozan Ishikawa himself erected the noted garden in this Shisen-do because of that talent. Moreover, Jozan is calling it unevenness or (O-totuka) in garden erection. It is said that this means being a dwelling in the uneven land, and the garden which was rich in ups and downs using a slope. Moreover, Jozan Ishikawa is famous also for invention of Shishiodoshi, and Shishiodoshi called Sozu is in a garden. It seems that this serves as invention of the practicality which prevents invasion of a deer or a wild boar, and killing two birds with one stone which brings emotion to a garden, and will be henceforth taken in widely by the Japanese garden. At first, unevenness, or the hermitage and garden which were called (O-totuka) also take a name from between Shisen(s) unawares, and come to be called Shisen-do,It seems that the character of a temple enters by having become a sect of Zen Buddhism, and an end temple in Soto sect head temple Eiheiji, and Shisen-do Jozan-ji became the present official name Showa 41 [ latest ]. If it passes through the gate where the entrance called Syoyu-do is small and goes into inside, the way of a stone pavement, the wood of a bamboo, and a hermitage can be seen. And shortly after paying the admission fee of 500 yen by receptionist and going into inside, it appears in Shisen-no-ma on the usual route. The garden of the white sand which is visible to the front of Shisen-no-ma is supposed that Aoyama and the sea are expressed. Moreover, although a lower garden portion is not visible from Shisen-no-ma, after performing a little passage, it is changed into shoes and is the usual route involving the inside of a garden. If it gets down from stone steps, it will appear in a lower garden portion. There are an autumnal-leaves tree and an ear of Japanese pampas grass in a courtyard centering on the pond called Ryuyohaku, and autumn is impressed. Although it is the garden carried out comparatively in a small way, I feel that it is good to be calm at the time which is vacant if it can do here. Truly, since the time of autumnal leaves had many crowds, especially although it is a weekday, it did not have a place which sits on a veranda in Poets' Room (Shisen-no-ma), either.
