Nison-in is a temple of the Tendai sect of Buddhism belonging to Mt. Hiei Enryakuji Temple now. By Emperor Saga's wish, Jikaku Daishi of the Tendai sect of Buddhism who received the command in 834 became the founder, and Nison-in was built. Moreover, since the Honen saint famous for why or the Jodo sect also exerted himself for development of this temple, the Honen saint image is also left behind as an important cultural property at the Kamakura period.
